The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University celebrated St. Joseph’s Day on March 19th with its 10th Annual Lafcadio Hearn Awards Dinner. The first honoree was Joseph Maselli who founded the American Italian Renaissance Foundation.

Also honored was another New Orleans native, Angelo Brocato Ice Cream & Confectionery Inc. Angelo Brocato’s Ice Cream Parlor opened in the French Quarter in 1905. Visiting chefs were Gaetano and Joseph DiSalvo. From Latrobe, PA, this father and son team showed their true talents with a delicious dinner that ranged from ravioli with seafood cream sauce to braised veal osso buco.
