Ingredients:

  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1 4- to 5-pound trimmed beef brisket, trimmed of excess fat

Instructions:

For simple preparation, season the brisket, refrigerate overnight, and pop in the oven. You won’t have to think about this easy meal until you pull the tender brisket in the spicy-sweet sauce from the oven, even though the delightful smell will fill your kitchen hours before it’s done. This is also a great crock pot recipe and makes incredible sandwiches. In rectangular glass baking dish, combine the onion, garlic, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, chili powder, soy sauce, and red wine. Add the brisket to the marinade. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven 325ºF. Place the brisket and marinade in the oven in a heavy pot. Bake, covered, about 4 to 5 hours, or until the brisket is tender.

Chef’s Note: Make sure to save the extra tasty gravy to serve with your brisket.
