Oysters Mystique Featured

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 2 dozen raw oysters, drained
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon uice
  • 24 dashes cayenne pepper
  • 8 slices bacon, each cut lengthwise into 3 pieces
  • 1/3 cup parsley, minced

Instructions:

This recipe first appeared in Pirate's Pantry.

Preheat oven to 450ºF. Grease 2 metal baking pans (8 1/2X11 inch) with butter. Marinate oysters in lemon juice 1 hour; then drain. Sprinkle each oyster with 1 dash cayenne, wrap with bacon, secure with a toothpick, and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon parsley. Bake, uncovered, on lowest rack, 12-15 minutes, or until bacon is crisp.

This exciting dish was created by Monsieur Boudreau in commemoration of his Dukehood at the 1975 Krewe of Mystique Ball.
