Mardi Gras Eats: Louisiana’s Best Fried Chicken

Mardi Gras Eats: Louisiana's Best Fried Chicken - Page 3 ChickenShackBATON ROUGE: Chicken Shack has been in business since 1935—during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first term. They are doing something right, even though your order arrives in a paper sack. Warning: Do not eat Chicken Shack chicken in church, because it is so crunchy you’ll make too much noise eating it.

HAMMOND: Fried chicken may not be the main event at Your Mom’s Restaurant, but it should be. What to eat: The fried chicken sandwich, topped with bacon (lots of it), house made cream cheese and jalapeño spread, all on a jalapeño bun. Come on. Man up. You can handle it. And once you recover, you’ll thank me.

  1. I don’t see Willie Mae’s Scotch House on the list. That’s the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life. It’s on St. Ann, in New Orleans.

    • Willie Mae’s Scotch House is indeed excellent! With this list, we tried to hit places all around the state. You’ll see Willie Mae’s on here before too long!

  2. The best fried chicken is in West Monroe! We have amazing restaurants in Ouachita Parish. Next time head to Magic Grill chicken in West Monroe for amazing chicken and rolls.

  3. Italian Pie in Chalmette, started selling fried chicken and its the best in St Bernard area for sure. Their red beans are also really good.
