Scented Geranium Cake

The cake absorbs the delicate flavor of scented geranium leaves and flowers lining the pan.

 

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 box white or yellow cake mix, prepared according to package directions
  • 1/2 cup small leaves and flowers of rose or lemonscented geranium

 

Instructions:

 

Preheat oven to 350°F. Generously butter and lightly flour a 9x13x2-inch cake pan. Arrange flowers and leaves in bottom of pan. Carefully pour the cake batter over the flowers and leaves. Bake the cake in the center of the oven until the top is golden brown and a cake tester comes out clean, about 35-40 minutes. Place pan on a rack and cool completely before removing cake from pan. Sprinkle lightly with rose or lemonscented geranium sugar.
