French Quarter Fest is back and along with the legendary music, exceptional sights, and one-of-a-kind events, this year’s lineup of Crescent City cuisine is better than ever. In celebration of one of our favorite Bayou State festivals, we’ve rounded up our top 10 foods to try. Head to the French Quarter April 13-16, 2023, and try them all!
1. French Market Coffee
For more than 120 years French Market coffee has been a staple on the New Orleans scene. Their brews show up on the menus of some of the city’s most iconic restaurants. Stop by their booth to try their French Market Praline Coffee or a Luzianne Blueberry Mint Iced Tea.
2. Laysone’s Meat Pie Restaurant
The Natchitoches Meat Pie, filled with a savory mixture of beef, pork, and the Cajun trinity, is one of Louisiana’s most beloved snacks. Laysone’s will also have crawfish pies.
4. Miss Linda the Ya-Ka-Mein Lady
Whether served at French Quarter Fest or on the menus of modern restaurants, ya-ka-mein has a legacy as one the most delicious comfort foods in New Orleans.
5. Restaurant R’evolution
For Restaurant R’evolution’s take on gumbo, they combine duck and andouille with a dark roux for an incredibly rich result.
6. Tujague’s Restaurant
Many New Orleans Creoles have had a lifelong love affair with mirlitons. At Tujague’s, they use mirliton shell as a vehicle for a decadent seafood dressing.
7. Cafe Beignet
The official doughnut of Louisiana, beignets are served fresh, hot, and cooked to order. They have a crispy outside and a soft, sweet center. Served in an order of three, beignets are topped with powdered sugar and are best paired with a cup of café au lait.
