Spend the day in Baton Rouge celebrating America’s independence! As it has for over 20 years, the USS Kidd Veterans Memorial and Museum opens the day with their annual Fourth of July Spectacular. Locals and visitors alike are invited to spend the day exploring the World War II Fletcher-class destroyer USS Kidd (DD-661).

Additionally, all manner of family fun is sure to be found throughout the day with flag demonstrations, vendor booths, food contests, second lines, and live music performances. Artists such as Category 5, Big River Express, and Band Camp have performed in the past.

The day’s festivities come to a close with Louisiana’s largest fireworks display in partnership with WBRZ News 2: “Fireworks on the Mississippi.” The display draws crowds by the thousands and is truly a sight to behold.

A limited number of tickets are available for guests to purchase and view the fireworks on the main deck of the USS Kidd, but all are welcome to enjoy the display for free all along the downtown Baton Rouge Mississippi levee.
