November 19–January 6 Natchitoches

During the Christmas season, downtown Natchitoches transforms into a winter wonderland of twinkling lights and festive events. Beginning the Saturday before Thanksgiving and lasting until Epiphany, the 90th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival of Lights is a celebration that’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

The festival officially kicks off with Turn on the Holidays, an event featuring live music, food vendors, kids’ activities, a Holiday Open House, the official lighting celebration, and the first fireworks show of the season.

Each night thereafter, visitors can enjoy live music, delicious food, and fun activities along the riverbank. The celebration, which was ranked as one of the top three holiday light displays by Yahoo.com, boasts more than 300,000 Christmas lights and 100 riverbank set pieces. Each Saturday through New Year’s Eve, Cane River Lake will light up with a dazzling fireworks display set to holiday music.

Other highlights include the Holiday Tour of Homes in Natchitoches’ National Historic Landmark District, Northwestern State University’s Christmas Gala, and the annual Festival of Lights Parade with appearances by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and Miss Merry and her Christmas Belles.
