The national cocktail of Martinique uses just three ingredients, including rhum agricole, a style of rum that was first distilled in the French Caribbean islands using fresh sugarcane juice.

Ingredients
- 1 lime
- 1 teaspoon cane syrup
- 2 ounces rhum agricole
- Garnish: lime peel
Instructions
- Cut ends off lime. Cut lime into quarters; cut each lime quarter in half.
- In an old-fashioned glass, muddle cane syrup and 1 lime wedge until juice is released and lime is very fragrant, about 15 times.
- Add a large cocktail ice cube to glass, and add rhum agricole. Stir vigorously until well combined and mixture is very cold, about 30 seconds. Garnish with lime peel, if desired.
