3 Reasons You Shouldn’t Miss the St. Tammany Crab Festival

St. Tammany Crab Festival

September 9–10 • Slidell

In Louisiana, we are lucky to have fresh seafood available at all times, but there are sweet spots throughout the year for certain species. In the summer and early fall, we are blessed with an abundance of blue crabs. The St. Tammany Crab Festival celebrates the crustacean at Slidell’s Heritage Park with two days full of live music, local cuisine, and activities for visitors of all ages.

1. It’s a crab celebration.

Hungry visitors can expect boiled crabs in addition to various crab dishes and Cajun and Creole classics.

2. Dance the weekend away with plenty of great music.

This year’s music lineup will feature performances from Amanda Shaw, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters, Category 6, guitarist Leo Nocentelli of The Meters, and more.

3. There will be plenty of activities for all ages.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy boat rides on neighboring Bayou Bonfouca, a classic car show, BMX stunt bike show, and horse and buggy rides.
