Café au Lait
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
- ¼ cup cold heavy whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups French Press Chicory Coffee (recipe follows)
French Press Chicory Coffee
- 4 tablespoons New Orleans French Market Medium-Dark Roast Coffee & Chicory
- 4 cups boiling water, divided
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, beat cream, sugar, and vanilla with a mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use, or up to 4 hours.
- In a small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until milk is steaming but not boiling, 5 to 7 minutes.
- Divide French Press Chicory Coffee evenly among 4 (8-ounce) or larger mugs. Top coffee with ½ cup hot milk. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
French Press Chicory Coffee
- Place coffee in a 4-cup French press. Pour 2 tablespoons boiling water over coffee grounds; bloom for 30 seconds.
- Pour remaining boiling water over coffee and let steep for 4 minutes. Gently stir mixture with a spoon so grounds begin to sink. Press coffee. Serve immediately.
